Day 3

Tonight I worked on her hair, shading around her eyes and shading on her dress. I put a second coat on the background and lettering also.

Now I will stare at her for a day or two to see what's missing or what needs fixing. It's funny how you see things later than you just can't see when you're working on a piece!

I really like her even if you think she is not complete.

She's wonderful Darla!
I always put my paintings on the mantle piece for a day to see if I missed anything too ;)

Darla, I'd definitely call that a state statement piece. I think the girl is so striking against the black ... looks fabulous. You have really come into your own with your painting.

Yes, that's what I like to do--let the piece rest for a while--it always seems to tell me what's next. I love the way she looks on the wall--almost like an ad--very cool!

Thank you all so much! I've gotten the go ahead to seal her up :)

Diane, I love that you said she looks like an ad because that was what we were going for!

I appreciate everyone's input and advice, suggestions and compliments!♥♥♥

She's gorgeous Darla! Did you make a decision about adding sparkle to the dress?
As for not seeing things for a day or two sometimes I will look at something from last year and see things I want to change, I guess that is what being an artist is all about, always looking to express the feeling more clearly!

Darla she is fab! I often find that when I photograph a piece and look at it on the computer I 'see' stuff that needs tweaking, or as you say when you look at it the next day. I suppose it's looking at it through 'fresh' eyes, actually seeing what we did instead of what we were aiming to do!

She is gorgeous though!
