I think she's done....

but then again, who knows. LOL

Title: Changes
Size: 12 x 12

The writing around her is a quote from Anatole France and it says:

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.

She has paper, molding paste, fabric, & rub on transfers amongst all the paint.

I started her last night after hearing the news that someone I love is making the decision to separate and most likely divorce. It's been a long, LONG struggle and I can totally relate to the toughness of this decision. It's heartbreaking but sometimes necessary to end a 'life' we've come to know in order to make way for the new life that's awaiting us.

The more I look at her, she could really represent so many things in a person's life. Quitting destructive behaviors such as drinking or smoking, leaving an unfulfilling job, moving away from home, ending a toxic friendship, etc.

Anyway, this is too deep for me. My head hurts ;)
G'night,
Darla

p.s. Here's another one of Anatole's quotes which I think is fitting:
When a thing has been said and well, have no scruple. Take it and copy it.

And yes, I did, thanks Anatole!

Darla this is outstanding. I think that in order to paint this painting this well, you do have to understand the emotion!! And for you to have been there has given this painting life and I am grateful to have witnessed it!!
Well done you!!
I love her and there is emotion in it for me!
Love the quotes too!!!
Thanks for coming by and commenting.

She's eautiful. I can see now that you had the ackground buildings in mind in your first showing.

Uncertainty is a difficult prolem, decisions, light or dark, once made are a little easier to deal with.

I really like this one Darla, the colours you have used are great and I really like the detailing in her clothes. You have such lovely neat handwriting too! I can relate to moving on and ending 'lives/relationships' with a toxic friend. It's been hard but necessary and I have a creative full life now with lots of other wonderful friends. Great piece and great sentiment behind it!

I just found you via 'in my sepia studio' (another great artist) and love your work. There's a wonderful touch of Marc Chagall, whom I've always found magical. Looking forward to seeing and reading much more of your work.

Fantastic....I absolutely LOVE the colours! It's always sad to hear of a long term relationship/marriage split...the quotes pretty much say it all though.

The life this in constant transmutation!... the changes scare and to know to recognize the right hour to do the changes is what is more difficult.. to feel when it arrived the right moment and to move forward without fear and without attachments with the past.
Wonderful your work Darla.
