I miss you Mom

This is one of those days that I really miss my Mom. All the commercials, cards, dinner specials, etc. I just wish she was here so I could treat her special. But instead, I'll place another wreath on her grave. My mother died at the age of 44 from side effects of an arthritis medication she was given. I was just 22 and a young mom myself and felt lost. She loved to doodle and taught me to sketch a doggie face and horse face and I continued to draw them over and over as a child. haha I just know she'd have loved to learn to paint with me and we could have explored this wonderful cyber world of arts together had we been given the chance.

I just read a speech that she had written for a convention she was to speak at. One line in there has stuck with me for years. She wrote:
"I once heard that the best exercise for the heart is reaching down to pick someone else up"
I love that.

Anyway, to all you mothers out there, enjoy the day! I hope you are surrounded by those that love and adore you!!

And on a lighter note, I attended the Fargo Marathon yesterday (as a spectator!)
I had 2 sons, a daughter in law and a granddaughter participate! I'm so proud of them!

Ryan (my middle child) and Jeni (married to Derek), Cailee (9 yr. granddaughter) & Derek (oldest child)
They were awesome!!!

I'm so proud!

Your family looks so beautiful.
What your mom wrote about picking someone up being the best heart exercise is so special. I am so sad to hear how you lost your mom and her life was cut short from a wrong medication. Oh how you must miss her dearly. Bless you and your family and especially today!
She must be a bright shinning angel herself as you are.
I love looking at your art and I am so sure your mom enjoys your art so much and can look at you and your family and be so proud!

Luv and hugs!

You must be so proud and what a beautiful and committed family.

It is so hard to hear about your Mom dying and at such a young age. I'm sorry.

I can't help but think of myself too and think how my children will feel when I am gone.

She would be very proud of you and your work. I know it.

Love Renee xoxo

Hi Darla,
You are always so faithful to visit me and sometimes I just forget the name of your actual Blog... bad me!
I am so sorry to hear about your mother! I can't even imagine.. ?
Was she taking celebrex?
That is so young.. when my brother died at the age of 44, I kept saying.. "but he is so young".. and someone grabbed my hand.. and gently said. "but there is no age in death"..
I can never forget that.
I will be visiting my mother later today.. !
Thank you for being you.. and I see you love Monica zunigna too?
I own one of her originals too!
I will share it soon.
She will be teaching classes soon I hope!
Hugs, Darlene. Happy Mothers Day..

Thank you all so much!

Darlene, the drug my mother took was Penicillamine. It caused permanent bone marrow damage and from the time they discovered it until she passed away was a short 6 months.

Lovely tribute to your Mom - and YAY for your children and granddaughter!

I believe your Mom does know you are an artist and it was her inspiration that brought you there.

Hugs to you Darla....
The quote from your mother's speech is so beautiful. It encompasses so much of this world of art and blogging...and so much in our day-to-day lives as well.
Think of all the little, often overlooked ways we touch and are touched by the lives around us...
I'm only just discovering all the ways my own mother touched my life and the lives of others.
That truly is the greatest gift...
Happy Belated Mothers Day...
