A couple of new projects

16 x 20 on canvas using spackling for texture:
I'm 'thinking' about giving this to my son for part of his birthday present. My 'baby' will be THIRTY on friday! OMG. I've been inspired by all the pretty bird silhouettes I've seen, where they're on electrical lines, etc. I decided to try a little something different with mine. Leaves!
Also, I started out with one bird who had a beak. Well, the beak looked nasty! So I just added his wife to the painting and now she is snuggling in so close, nobody will see his (my) little issue. :)

I painted two of these. One for an order and one was intended for my brother. The brother who put up with me for a week while I visited in Arizona in March. He's an avid golfer. Actually his wife is too. I usually put the recipient's last name on these stepping stones but in this case, I think it might totally clash with the lettering that's already on this design. This is a design I grabbed out of an old painting magazine. I'll have to run and find out the original artist and add to this post. Must give credit where credit is due :)

I don't think I'll get anymore painting done this week. Tomorrow I need to bake a birthday cake, make coleslaw and paint on my son's front window :)
Friday is a party for him and then Saturday I'm headed out of town for the weekend to attend a wedding. Busy, busy, busy!

I'm hoping to make my rounds tomorrow and visit some of my favorite blogs!! I feel like I'm missing so much in just a couple of days away from them.

Love the little birdies (hey, he needed a partner anyway)!!

It's my 30th birthday on Sunday, funny!! Perhaps I will ask mum for a Strawberry Shortcake type cake (she may think I am nuts but whatever will be will be).

Happy Birthday to your son! :D

This is a stunning piece! So different from what I saw you do when I first discovered your blog, but they're all lovely! I think the two birds makes the piece very special, such a sweet touch. And your use of colour and texture is lovely, I really love the browny and bluey colours together they are so complementary. Have fun at your parties!!!

Hi Darla,
Oh, Ah, You latest painting is great.
Hm, the texture adds another dimension to your painting and I rather like the idea of two birds instead of one.

Best wishes to your son on his birthday.
Oh, if he's not impressed with the painting, I'll send you my snail mail address. lol
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Anna

You must have started having babies very young. I'm only 5 years younger than you and my eldest child is just about to turn 15!!! OK, I was a later starter. I love your pieces, especially the one with the birds, I adore it.
