Less is more perhaps?

I had time to finish this girl in my art journal last night. Looks like I had a little toooooo much time on my hands? I think I got carried away :) It's a 12 x 12 page and it just seemed like so much empty space to fill up and boy, I filled it up didn't I?

I used photo transfers for the garden arch and garden chair and then added a bit of glazed white to the image to make them pop a bit more.

Hopefully you won't think I totally ruined this, but it is just in my journal and that's where we're supposed to play and learn, right? :)

Thank you all for being such a special part of my art playground!!

Darla

I think it looks like you had a blast playing, and you've included the most important elements for a garden; the gardener, an arch a place to sit in peace and all the little butterflies and flowers a gardener could want- to me it's an *enchanted garden* !

This is perfect to me--I say more is more! You should see some of my journal pages--I don't even like to look at them, let alone show them to anyone :)

Darla this is PERFECT!! I love the look of the page ... and seeing your lettering - I'm going to work more on my lettering to add to my scrapbook pages. I refuse to spend all that money on a diecut machine, when I know I can draw/paint the effect/details/lettering that I want.

Its perfect to me.

I think it's just fine & dandy. Art is always so much more interesting when there is more to look at!

Personally, I love it!
I like that there is so much to keep you looking and imagining what she will do in the garden. Wonderful!

I can't image why you think it's too much....I love it...besides it reflects what you were feeling and that means it's never too much....I love the colors and the lettering....How did you do the lettering....? I always have problems in that area...
Great work...Can't wait to see more.
Hugs and Blessings,
Butterfly

Generally, less is more is the rule. But, it depends on you. It's your art...you are the boss. If you think it's too much, you could always wash over it to fade it back some and make the figure stand out more.
