The writing around her is a quote from Anatole France and it says:

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.

She has paper, molding paste, fabric, & rub on transfers amongst all the paint.

I started her last night after hearing the news that someone I love is making the decision to separate and most likely divorce. It's been a long, LONG struggle and I can totally relate to the toughness of this decision. It's heartbreaking but sometimes necessary to end a 'life' we've come to know in order to make way for the new life that's awaiting us.

The more I look at her, she could really represent so many things in a person's life. Quitting destructive behaviors such as drinking or smoking, leaving an unfulfilling job, moving away from home, ending a toxic friendship, etc.

Anyway, this is too deep for me. My head hurts ;)

Work in Progress

I'm trying to experiment with loosening up my strokes and technique. I tend to futz with stuff so much and on this piece, I'm slip slappin' the paint around more. I've got little swirls of modeling paste on here, that was fun!

It's early......and things WILL change :)

Funny, he called me later and kept sneezing and apologizing so I asked if he was getting sick or it was allergies. He was pretty sure it was just allergies and then said, 'Well I put mascara on my beard to make it darker~maybe that's causing it?'

He's precious and I can't wait until it's official. They've fostered him now for 1.5 years so he really is already family♥

Gut Art Fish?

Yeah, I wanted to create the layered background and pull out a girl or angel or something but all I could see was a fish and bubbles so that's where it went :)

Happy Halloween!

Since I don't dress up myself, I thought I'd share a pic of my daughter in law (Jeni)!
She teaches elementary school and she was the Progressive girl yesterday :) Too Cute!



I'm off to Michaels.......again. For some reason those coupons make me feel I MUST use them. Michaels is 40 miles away so I always manage to get other necessities when I go. Groceries are SO much cheaper there than in my small town.

What I learned today

Alcohol Ink bleeds through everything!



I really wanted to take Mystele's Gut Art class but I was too late and it was closed to sign ups when I checked. I've seen so many of her videos and I get the idea of what she is trying to teach so I decided to do it on my own, although I know the class teaches so much more and I will try get in on the next run!

I had purchased Alcohol inks awhile back and couldn't remember why I wanted them to begin with so I used them in making my background. They are not only permanent, but they demand to be seen........FOREVER! This girl has many attempts at covering up her flaw, but we had to learn to love it and leave it :)

Blue Jay & a painting snowman

Ok, bird #2 is complete but not without a weeeeeeeee bit of frustration. I thought I owned every single color of acrylic paint ever made but I had none of the colors required for this, other than black and white. See? This is why instructions are hard for me! ha! I like wingin' it!

I have a color conversion book (somewhere) but I'm too lazy to dig it out and look up what colors would work best for replacement. I just used the closest that I could find. Hope you like him. Oh, and it's another Sharon Stansifer design.

I think my next challenge will be fur.......now to go dig through books and pick something out :)



And here's a little ACEO for your WINTER pleasure. It's supposed to snow here tonight or tomorrow. One of my favorite novels was 'A Rose in Winter' and this reminds me of that :)
