Happy Labor Day Weekend!

(Work in Progress)

I tried another abstract background on this large canvas and I loved that it looked like a storm in the background. I 'might' use this as a donation item in a local charity auction but I'm not sure yet. Not quite sure if folks around here appreciate abstract anything. We had record tornadoes here this summer and for some reason I see a funnel cloud and lightening in the background. I put daisies (again) on this one and have just started doing some shading on them as you can see on the two flowers on the very right side.

Here is a close-up after some shading. I'll post more pics when it is complete. Unless of course I do something to ruin it and start over. That is known to happen in my world ;)

I've been up to my *** in beets! A good friend's father LOVES to grow vegetables and then they have such a surplus. They brought me TWO plastic grocery bags FULL of beets and I've been canning pickles and freezing them for 2 nights! 13 pints of pickles and 17 pints frozen. It's a good thing I like my veggies! Next to deal with is a head of cabbage the size of a basketball!

After two nights of beet juice EVERYWHERE in my kitchen, I finally got things cleaned up, grabbed a glass of wine and headed for the tub to soak. I pinched a nerve in my lower back and it was killing me. Got in my jammies and curled up in a chair and drew this young girl. It was SO fun to sketch a girl again, I haven't done that in awhile.

Maybe this weekend, with 3 days off, I'll find time to add some paint to her? We shall see!

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday weekend! Enjoy and for those traveling, stay safe!

Hi Darla! Thanks for your nice comment on my blog today! I actually don't have a plan although I try! I wish I were more of the lets see what happens type! I hope to be someday!

Wow! I am loving this one already! The background is great! Is that molding paste I see? Those colors are so rich....

And the sketch is great! Excited to see her painted!

Have a great weekend!

Thanks Cathy :)
Actually on this one I put soft gel medium on the canvas and then applied crinkled tissue paper to give it the texture. It's fun and less expensive than the molding paste. Oh and then you brush on more thinned out gel medium over the tissue paper to secure it well.
Sometimes the tissue paper folds take on an image on their own...very fun! I hope you try it!

I love the paining I love all of your backgrounds they are so beautiful.I cant wait to see the girl painted.

I use to make altered books and used tissue paper. It's a fun way to add texture and I agree much cheaper.I will have to think about using it again.

I have also used napkins with pretty print on them.
