Sketches and a dream

I did manage to sketch a little over the weekend and play with colored pencils and some pan pastels. Nothing fancy, but that's all I could muster up the energy to do!

Plain old pencil sketch

A little colored pencil applied

More colored pencil

Some pan pastels applied

These sketches are in my sketch journal so whenever I do the back page, smudges appear on the previous page. I really should take the time to put a blank piece of paper between them when I doodle.

My Dream? I'd love to make cute dolls!

This morning I caught an episode of Craft Lab on the DIY network. Jessica Acosta was on demonstrating this Epoxy Layered Doll. I just loved watching this and I really want to try one!

Of course they don't have the episode on their site yet (as they promised :) but I was able to find out her name and find her flickr site. She also makes the most adorable little clothespin dolls!

It's December 1st and that means I need to close out November here at work. My laser printer needs a new cartridge. No warning.......just quit printing! So until I get a new cartridge, I can do nothing. Well, maybe I can check out some blogs :)

Beautiful sketches and lovely colours. Thanks for the link to Jessica Acosta's flicer. I've seen her work before but never put the 2 together. Have a wonderful day.

Your 'Plain old pencil sketch' is gorgeous!! I love the detail in her face.

I can see why you would want to try doll making, that one is fantastic!
I used to do a bit of polymer clay work but to be honest I hated it lol!!

She is very lovely with the Pan pastels! I have some but have not used them too much. I love them though and should try them on a face.

Loving your journal art, the little cute girl (2nd) So sweet!
The art doll is amazing too. Sounds like you have an amazing art week.

The art journal pages can be sprayed with hairspray to fix your art and you can go over it also when dry.
Spray thin layers (dries guickly)

Probably saying what you already know, sorry if I am.

Will be visiting your blog hopefully tomorrow. The messages about glasses are amazing.
Thank you so much!

Have a great day!

Its beautiful doll. I'd love to see you make one. I know of an online workshop that teaches doll making if that is what you would like to do. It is ran by Mystele.

wonderful sketches Darla. I also smudge the other page when I sketch cause I can't be bothered to put a piece of paper between them.

I say follow your dream and give doll making a go! Why not? I think you would do great at it.

Hey there so glad you liked the episode of Craft Lab, I was pretty blown away by those dolls myself. Sorry the instructions are not on the DIY website they took all of them off to make room for more home improvement stuff :( Love your art they would make great dolls. Check out Alicia Burke's book Canvas Remixed you could print the drawings to canvas and then stitch into a doll easy!
