A special order
A very sweet woman here asked if I would ever paint something special for her. Her brother died in a horrible accident at work 4-5 years ago. He worked at a sunflower processing plant. She wanted something to show them both, possibly in a sunflower field. Boy, I struggled. It took 4 attempts. First I tried larger fields, but she did want me to show them both as blondes with blue eyes and the further away his image got, the less detail I could get in. Finally I decided on a close-up view and hopefully the ‘in a sunflower field’ comes across here. I did layers of 1” papers again, put on a background paint and then sketched and wood burned the design. I found it extremely difficult to do a male figure/face without it looking TOO feminine. I hope I accomplished it somewhat. Thank God she wanted whimsical and not realistic
I hope you are all having a great January. I can’t believe it’s almost over! I’ve hit my normal January brick wall where almost all of my creativity comes to a complete stop after the holidays. I’m really hoping it kicks into gear soon! I have tons of ideas in this head of mine, just haven’t had the urge to get them onto canvas yet.

New Year…New Me! (again?)
Well, after fighting a stubborn chest cold, I’m bound and determined to get going on my plan to get healthier this year and stay that way! I’m going to try the Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno. It’s more than doable for me since I LOVE fruits, veggies, chicken and fish!
My problem is going to be with sweets, pasta and salty snacks I also have a love/hate relationship going with them! ha
I’m excited to receive my new Creative Essentials package from Sue Walters! I decided (after much thought!) that I would treat myself to a Christmas gift!! It’s a pyrography package and I’m hoping it will be as much fun to experiment further with wood burning as I think it will be! I’m looking forward to trying anyway!
I’m late, but I want to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
